Setting Up A Club
Establishing a Creativity Club
Phase 1: Taster Session
Aim:
To establish a critical mass of interested orgnaisations to come together as a Creativity Club.
Process:
Convene an introductory session – introducing creative problem solving and the merits of a Creativity Club. Maximum duration 2 hours. Review levels of interest to proceed to the Pilot Phases.
Cost: No charge.
Phase 2: Creativity and Facilitation Skills
Aim:
To develop a local resource to facilitate creative problem solving within the target group of organisations (i.e. NOT a full Creativity Club – see below).
Process:
(i) A 4 hour creativity Workshop for facilitators and other interested parties, up to a maximum of, say, 25 attendees – focus on principles and introduction to principles and techniques. The presentation will explore the following topics:
1. Blocks
The thinking process (with interactive example)
The brain as a patterning system(with interactive example)
Mind set (with interactive example)
2. Solutions
Playfulness
Creative Charter
Creative Problem Solving Techniques
3. Examples
Hands-on exploration of various techniques
Attendees will leave understanding the role of creativity within an organisation, and have an understanding of practical steps for its implementation. They will have experienced a number of creativity techniques, and be equipped with the skills to give it a go!
Case studies will be provided to demonstrate, without doubt, the benefits of introducing a culture of creativity.
From this (Part 1) Workshop, members of the target group of organisations will be able to identify suitable candidates to go on to Facilitation training (maximum of 8).
(ii) A 4 hour creativity workshop for facilitators (Part 2) – focus on exploring a range of techniques e.g.
- Reversal
- Superheroes
- Greetings Cards
- Bionics
- Provocation
(iii) Candidate facilitators to develop their own creativity groups to explore techniques in-house
(iv) A half-day facilitation workshop to refine skills – topics to include:
- Conventional vs Creative Problem Solving revisited
- Introduction to improvisation
- Practice with techniques

Phase 3: Creativity Club Pilot
Aim:
Building upon Phase 1 to develop a full Creativity Club to promote creative problem solving and provide ongoing energisation of key change agents within the target organisations.
Proposal:
1. Identify pilot participants
2. Establish a 6 month pilot programme, one half-day event per month
- Introduction to Creativity (DJH)
- Technique Workshop
- Facilitation training
- 3 x external presentations
3. Review Pilot outcomes – go/nogo?
